Revlon Colorstay Concealer

I purchased this product quite a few months ago now and when I first tried it, I didn't like it. So it was one of those products that went to the back of my draw, until recently. My last concealer ran out so I ventured to my draw and thought I would pull this one out and give it another go. When I first purchased this concealer, I had heard that it was similar to the Urban Decay Naked Concealer which was actually the one I was using before this one.

I must say I'm glad that I pulled this back out of my draw for round two because I'm really enjoying it. I really don't know why I didn't like it to begin with but my skin has changed recently, which is the only reason I can think of. Anyway, I have this in the shade light which seems to be the perfect shade for my skin tone. I use this on my face to conceal spots etc, rather than under my eyes and find that it really does conceal them well. Just as well in fact as the Urban Decay concealer, I can see where people are coming from when they say this is a dupe for it.

This concealer conceals all kinds of spots, blemishes, marks on my face and keeps them concealed for a really decent amount of time. I'm really enjoying using it at the moment as part of my every day make up routine. My face is having a bit of a mad spotty moment recently, so having a decent concealer, that you can rely on, really just makes me feel a bit better going about my day. If you haven't tried this concealer then I would definitely recommend it, especially if you haven't tried the Urban Decay one as this is very similar.

I Spent Even More Money On Make Up...

When Boots have 3 for 2 on all make up I cannot resist. I purchased six make up items that I really don't need but wanted, isn't that always the story? There were actually a few new releases make up wise and after watching some YouTube videos about the best of the high street brands, I obviously needed to try those too right.

Firstly influenced by Fleur from FleurDeForce I picked up the Collection Eyes Uncovered Nude Palette. I'm not one to always wear eye shadow but when I do I like to have choice depending on what I'm wearing. In this palette there are six neutral shades which are all totally wearable for everyday and on a night out. This palette was as cheap as chips so I'm looking forward to see if it's any good.

Next is a new product from Barry M and it's their Flawless Colour Correcting Primer. This particular one is aimed at redness but there is just a normal one on offer too. I've always said I find it hard to find high street primers so when I saw this one I knew I wanted to try it out. I then picked up the new Rimmel Super Curler Mascara which I read mixed reviews about. This mascara is supposed to curl your lashes without the need to use an eyelash curler. I'm not sure whether this will work or not but I'm excited to see whether it does or not as I'd love to not curl my eyelashes daily!

I then picked up the Bourjois Brow Natural as my current brow product is nearly all gone basically. Unfortunately when I went to try this product out, it didn't work. I took it back to Boots to get another but it was the same so I didn't bother again. This was a shame as I love using felt tip like brow products but it simply just wasn't meant to be.

Next is the Revlon Colorstay Concealer which I have wanted to try for a very long time. I've heard it is supposed to be a dupe for the Nars concealer which I do really like. Hence why I wanted to try this one as it's a fraction of the price. Finally I picked up the Bourjois Mat Illusion Bronzing Powder simply because I wanted a matte bronzer. I've got the Bourjois chocolate bronzer but it does have some shimmer in it which for the autumnal/winter months I didn't want. I do love Bourjois as a brand so thought I would stick with it and found this matte one which I haven't heard anything about so thought I would give it a go.

That's it for this Boots haul (again). I definitely need to stop buying make up for quite a while now and use up more that I have in my stash. I do love when Boots do 3 for 2 though as it's such a good time to save money and try out new things you've always wanted too. I hope you all have a lovely weekend :-)

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy

Firstly I apologise for this post being slightly later than expected but with the overload of uni work to complete at the moment, this post had to take a slight back seat. But do not worry it is now here only a day later than planned. I have literally just finished one essay (two more to go!) so I thought I would write this up now whilst I'm kinda in the type-y mood.

I purchased these Revlon nail varnishes a little while back when I went on a splurge on Boots website, with my Boots card points. I'd previously seen these in store but I was good and told myself I didn't need any more nail varnishes. Which is true but the fact that I was using my Boots points instead of actual money meant that I should buy them right? Gel nails went through a recent phase of being absolutely everywhere. I've only ever had gel nails done once and they really didn't last very long so to be honest I wasn't very impressed. Which meant that when they were all hyped up, I simply wasn't bothered.

But since all of the high street brands have brought out these "at home gel nails without the UV light", I have been slightly pulled in. They all claim the lasting power which is something that pains me the most. When you spend so long painting your nails and then the next day, BOOM, they're chipped. I know the job I work in they're never going to last long anyway but seriously more than a day please! I've always loved Revlon as a brand so when their ones popped up on the Boots website I just went for their ones. No particular reason why, other than trying their products in the past and have always pretty much been great.

I picked up the shade Winning Streak which is a gorgeous vibrant lilac, very spring like I thought. Then you have to also buy the top coat that goes with it, clearly the bottle that does all the magic, you'd hope. When applying I used a base coat also which it doesn't say you need but my nails easily stain so I didn't want to risk that. The brush on these are pretty good, nothing spectacular but they apply easily. I did apply two coats and I believe everyone would need two coats of the colour. It was very opaque after two coats which I liked the look of. Even before applying the top coat, my nails looked super glossy. I then applied the top coat which went on smoothly and waited. I really, really wanted to apply my Seche Vite top coat to help the drying time but I didn't as I didn't want to ruin the combination of nail varnishes. So I waited. And waited. They took forever to dry, I even ended up smudging a couple of nails because I simply got bored and had to do something.

Once they had dried I was impressed with the look of them. They looked super glossy and just like real gels that you'd have done in a salon. I really loved the colour I picked up too and it's definitely one I'll be wearing again throughout spring and summer. The lasting power of this nail combo wasn't all that great if I'm honest. I would say within a couple of days I had chips on a couple of fingers. Yes it can obviously depend on what you're doing and in my job it probably doesn't help that. But I can say that I wasn't very impressed with how long they lasted. I can say that I was impressed with how easily they were to remove though, I simply just used normal nail varnish removed which worked a treat.

Overall I loved the lilac shade I picked up and will definitely be using that again. I will try these two together again and see if they happen to last any longer. I still think I'll get good use out of both of these products but I'm unsure as to whether or not I will buy any more shades from this range. Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet

As promised, but slightly delayed, another lipstick post. Last week and this week are probably the busiest ever for me, the first deadlines for two uni assignments, including placement, work and a little bit of a social life. Safe to say it's been hectic but I'm sure it won't be the worst during my university years.

A while back, with thanks to Tanya Burr (you may have seen in my latest haul post), you may have seen that I purchased this Revlon lip butter in the shade Red Velvet. It's absolutely perfect for this time of the year both colour and product wise. I'd actually been looking for a dark red lipstick recently and this one fitted that slot perfectly. Again, a long while back, I reviewed a lip butter just in a different shade and said that I wanted to try one which was more pigmented. So even though it's a while back I've finally done it and I'm so pleased I did. If you did read my other lip butter post then you'll know how much I loved it then and not a lot has changed.

The Revlon lip butters are super moisturising so perfect for those drier lips in the colder months. The extra pigmentation doesn't cling to those dry patches just adds a lovely amount of colour to your lips. It has great lasting power and when it does start to fade it does so evenly and leaves your lips tinted nicely for your next application. The packaging is pretty with a quilted effect and a colour co-ordinated lid.

Overall, as with my other lip butter, I love these lipsticks and will definitely keep buying more shades! They are perfect for every season and there's definitely a colour for every season too! If you'd like to check out my other lip butter post in the shade 'Pink Lemonade' then click here :-)

Fragrance Direct Haul #2

Here I am again with another Fragrance Direct haul, but if you have shopped with them before then you'll know it's hard not to keep going back with such cheap and affordable prices! If you've never shopped with Fragrance Direct before then it's a site which sells make up, skin care, hair care, perfume and lots of other cosmetic bits & bobs at cheap prices. It's very hard to go onto the website and leave without buying anything or at least wanting to.

So I was on their website the other week and just couldn't resist. They have recently introduced OPI to their website so I was really keen to get my hands on a couple. The other item that everyone seems to head to Fragrance Direct for is Essie nail polishes and that's the first item I picked. This time I headed onto look at Essie they actually had so many shades to choose from. I restricted myself to one and picked up the shade 'Madison Ave-Hue'. It's a gorgeous pink/purple shade and a colour which I don't (think) I have in my collection. For only £1.99 compared to the retail at £7.99 it's such an amazing price and the item that I would always purchase on their website.

Next I picked up two OPI nail polishes, the first called 'Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It' which is a glitter with small heart confetti in from the Minnie Mouse collection. I wanted this nail polish as soon as this collection was released but resisted due to the price tag of £13 so when I saw this for £3.99 I couldn't resist. It's such a cute nail polish and think it could be paired with pretty much any colour polish. The second I picked up is called 'Pedal Faster Suzi!' which is a lovely baby pink with a shimmer in it. Again I've seen this polish before so couldn't leave it there once I'd seen it.

I then got two Revlon nail polishes, I've always tried make up bits from Revlon but have never tried one of their normal nail polishes. The price tag totally swayed me, are you ready for this? They were 99p! Yes under £1 for a nail polish. I picked up the two glitter ones which were available called 'Popular' which is a baby pink polish with silver speckles of glitter and 'Stunning' which is a plain silver glitter with different sized flecks. I'm excited to try these, as I said I've never tried Revlon polishes before, due to loving their other products and obviously the price.

After that I got two lipsticks the first being from Rimmel. Now the other week I picked up the exact same lipstick (in a different shade) from Boots for just over £5 I believe, then on Fragrance Direct they were on there for, yes you guessed it, 99p!I was gutted, ha ha! But on a brighter note I picked a new shade up as I love my other one, this time I got 'Sweetheart Tulips' which is such a pretty deep pink. Next I got a Maybelline Color Sensational Popstick (and breathe) again something I've always wanted to try so for £1.99 I had to try one. I picked up the shade 'Tropical Pink' which looks very vibrant but is actually quite sheer and very wearable which I love.

I then got some non-make up bits. I picked up two bits from the T Zone range which I've been enjoying using lately. I've already got one of their face scrubs which I like so thought I would try another which is the 'Dual Action Power Scrub', I then got the 'Skin Clearing Face Moisturiser'. This range is aimed at that troublesome skin for example blemish prone, blackheads and uneven tone. I suffer from those pesky spots so am always intrigued to find new products to help me out! They are cheap again, the scrub being 99p and moisturiser £1.99 so fingers crossed they produce good results. Finally I picked up a new angled brush. I want this for two things; my eyebrows and also eyeshadow when I want to push it close to my lash line as eyeliner. This was only 99p so I'm excited to try it and see the softness etc.

Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade

Yet again here I am pretty late on this beauty bandwagon, but better late than never hey. If you haven't already noticed then I'm talking about the Revlon Lip Butters. I had been humming and haring about these products for a long time until I decided to take the plunge recently when Boots had a 3 for 2 on make up offer. Also if you didn't already know then I'm pretty new to the whole lipstick thing and am slowly but surely adding to my collection.

This was actually one of my very first lipstick purchases so colour wise I was being very cautious. I picked up the shade called 'Pink Lemonade' which is a very subtle light pink and for my first lippy I was after a subtle colour so this one ticked that box. Obviously like everybody else the massive rave about these products is huge, the fact that they're so moisturising, nourishing and pigmented are just a few of the main reasons.

There are also so many shades to choose from so I was stood in front of the Revlon counter for some considerate amount of time. This also means when I go back for another shade I'm sure I'll be stuck for choice! This is the kind of lipstick I'd go for on those 'no make up' make up days or when I'm not feeling like a bright lip colour. There are obviously many more pigmented and bold shades within this range and I think I will definitely be picking from a more bold shade next time!

One of the main things I love about this product is the fact that it's just like a pigmented colour lip balm. So for someone who was pretty scared at first of putting lipstick on this was the perfect option to ease it on. I am also very drawn to the packaging, it's so chic and elegant! I love the simple quilted lid but it adds so much to the product and also matches the colour of the lipstick inside which I think is a nice touch.

Overall I do love this product although I think I would definitely go for a bolder colour next time and there will be a next time, ha! I would love to know if you've tried a lip butter and what shades are your favourites? Leave me a comment and let me know which one I should go for next :-)

Review: Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in Moon Dust

Another new nail product, yes when I see a glittery nail product I cannot go past without picking it up and then, more times than not, purchasing it. It's a bad habit for my bank balance but unresistable. Since purchasing this particular nail art duo I have seen a few other brands starting bringing out pretty much the same product. So I believe this kind of duo, from whatever brand, to be very popular in the near future.

I picked this up from my latest haul and was part of my 3 for 2 in Boots. I had never seen these before but was instantly intrigued. I also don't think I own a nail varnish from Revlon, which I don't really understand ha, but after using this duo I think that fact might change. The idea of this product is to first paint your nails with the plain colour (in this particular colour, black) and then to use the glitter side as a top coat. I love the idea of this and in the same range within Revlon there were literally so many different colour combinations to choose from! They were all so gorgeous and the only reason I went for this one is because my current black nail varnish is running out. The colours ranged from green and blue to purple and burgundy to which had the corresponding glitter on the other end.

The application was super duper easy and although I did two coats of the black nail polish, just to prolong the wear, I honestly don't think it needed two coats. I then applied one coat of the glitter top coat which I found amazingly full. Sometimes I find glitter top coats needs way more than one coat to get the 'full' look but this one was amazing and literally in one coat my nail was full of the iridescent glitter flakes. The glitter flakes shine so many different colours in the light which I love such as greens, yellows and blues. The drying time of this product was great, I can only talk for the plain black colour as on the top coat I did use my quick drying spray, on the plain black and dried super quickly which is always a massive plus point within a nail varnish.

I absolutely adore everything about this nail varnish duo and definitely will be heading back to Boots on payday and investing in a new colour! I think this is a great deal for the price you pay, £7.99 at Boots, as you're getting two colours. Obviously the plain black could be worn on it's own and the glitter top coat could be worn over the top of any other nail varnish you own so really it's a bargain that can be used again and again. If you've been deciding whether to get this product or not then I 100% recommend it, you will not be disappointed :)
